This Arizona Gives Day, Tuesday, April 5, donate to Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) and become a hero to 59 dogs we rescued from a hoarding case this spring.
Over the last two months the YHS team came to the aid of 59 dogs who were voluntary surrendered.
The first group of 19 arrived in February after the dogs’ owner realized she could not properly care for so many pets. Though they had access to food and water, we knew right away these Chihuahua/Terrier/Dachshund mixes would need behavioral treatment. The dogs had little human interaction and were incredibly fearful.
Our staff and volunteers immediately began socializing the dogs to prepare them for adoption. With tender, loving care they eventually learned to trust people. After receiving their spay/neuter surgeries and medical treatment, 18 of the 19 dogs have been adopted!
Just when we thought we had the situation under control, we were surprised with a second group from the same home. This time we welcomed 28 adults and 22 puppies with open arms.
We got straight to work with the adults who needed behavior rehabilitation. We also rolled up our sleeves and managed to find foster homes for all the puppies.
They still have a long way to go on their journey to finding forever homes. With spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, microchips, food, shelter, and medical treatment, each dog costs $400 to care for.
Your gift helps these dogs as they grow and learn to accept the love they deserve.
Schedule your donation today to benefit the animals at Yavapai Humane Society on Arizona Gives Day, and be a hero to these dogs in need.
Thank you for your generous support,
