The Yavapai Humane Society is hoping to have its horse rescue program up and running by June.

Construction is wrapping up on more than 7 acres on Road One West in Chino Valley for a horse adoption center. During a recent live appearance on KQNA’s Talk of the Town show, Humane Society Director Ed Boks described how the idea for a center came about. Boks explains planning has been underway since last year. The program will be supervised by 2 employees and manned by volunteers. There will be room for 20 horses at the time of the center’s opening. Boks points out the center isn’t a sanctuary, but a place where horses are made ready for adoption.
