Lost & Found Pets

Lost your pet?

We know this is a scary time. If you have lost or found a pet, we encourage you to immediately post a current picture with description to the Lost & Found and Pet sections of Craigslist, the free Lost & Found section of The Daily Courierand to the Facebook Group Lost Pets of Northern Arizona. Please also submit a Lost Pet report here, which will be sent directly to Yavapai Humane Society’s Lost & Found Team as well as display publicly on our Lost Pets page.

Visit Yavapai Humane Society’s Lost & Found Center to look at our lost pets in person. The last thing we’d want is to misunderstand your phone description and overlook your best friend. Lost dogs and cats are kept in the Lost & Found Pet Center building. On the YHS campus it is the building with a brown roof closest to Prescott Lakes Parkway. Directions here.

If an animal arrives at YHS and it has a license, ID tag, and/or microchip, we will be calling  the phone numbers registered to the chip, license, and/or collar tag. PLEASE keep your information current on your pet’s ID tag and microchip. Often, collars and tags fall off when an animal is stray.

Animals that arrive with identification are kept 5 days before being put up for adoption. Animals without identification are kept 3 days before being put up for adoption.

If you find your pet at our facility, please be aware you must pay the city, county and Yavapai Humane Society’s fees before your pet is returned to you. To reclaim your animal, please bring a recent photo of you with your animal, their vet records, rabies vaccination certificate and license (if canine.) Unlicensed and/or intact animals that have not been spayed or neutered have additional fees.

Found a Lost Pet?

If you have found a stray animal and cannot identify the owner, you may bring it to us or use the other options. The stray fee for dogs is $50. If we accept a stray cat, the surrender fee would be $50. Bring the animals to the Lost & Found Pet Center which is the building with a brown roof nearest Prescott Lakes Parkway. Directions here.

If you live in Chino Valley, bring the animal to Chino Valley Animal Control. Their website is here.
